Step 2: Open or Create your Web Page

Creating Web Pages is beyond the scope of this tutorial. With that said, we will assume that a web page has already been created and all we need to do is open it for publishing.

Web Page Tips

The following tips will help you create pages that are easy to maintain and should work well with the ChurchServe servers.
  • Never use spaces or special symbols when naming files.
  • ChurchServe's servers are case-sensitive with file names -- so index.html, Index.html, and INDEX.HTML are all DIFFERENT files according to our servers -- for that reason, we recommend you always name your files in all lower case or at least a consistent way for you to remember. This is particularly important when linking to other files.

Open HTML File Dialog for opening web page files

The Open File Dialog Box

This is a Open HTML File Dialog for selecting the file you wish to open. In this tutorial we assume you have a web page ready to go. Once you open your file, the Mozilla Composer screen will refresh with the contents of the file (see below).

An Open Web Page

For our purposes, we will use a page we have already created to demonstrate publishing ability in Mozilla Composer.

If you have not already created a web page, you might want to start typing to create a simple test page before continuing. Creating web pages in Composer is fairly simple. As long as you can basically use a word processor, you should be able to put together a fairly simple web page with little effort. Composer also has several advance features you might wish to explore later.
