Introduction
Introduction to Mozilla, Mozilla Composer, and the relationship to ChurchServe Accounts.Getting Mozilla
Go to the Mozilla Project website at http://www.mozilla.org/ and download the latest version of Mozilla available for your operating system. For this tutorial, we will be using Mozilla 1.7.2 (which was the latest version at the time of the writing of this tutorial). Newer versions may have a slightly different appearance or functionality.Mozilla Composer
Mozilla Composer is included in the download for Mozilla. It is installed by default along with other parts of the Mozilla browser.Using this Tutorial
The screens may be different than what you may experience for the following reasons:- You might be running Mozilla on a different Operating System than the one we used to develop this tutorial. This tutorial was created on Windows XP, however the functionality is the same on other operating systems.
- You might have a newer/older version of Mozilla (we are using version 1.7.2).
- You might have a different theme or settings on your desktop than what we used.
ChurchServe Specific Information
This tutorial was designed for the users of ChurchServe's hosting services. Although, the information is basically the same, your specific settings will be different if you do not use a ChurchServe hosted account.Also, this tutorial is mostly common between all the hosting services provided by ChurchServe with some noted exceptions. Please pay special attention when hosting service specific information is provided (like Free Accounts vs. Paid Accounts).
Tutorial Assumptions
Our tutorial is targetted to novice users (folks that are largely unfamiliar with Mozilla Composer). Even so, we must make the following assumptions during the tutorial:- You have a computer or access to a computer.
- You have at least basic knowledge about how to use your computer, the operating system, and how to connect to the Internet.
- You have a ChurchServe account and you know your User Name and Password for your account.
- You will be connected to the Internet during the publishing process. If you are not, you might be prompted to connect to the Internet -- this process is beyond this tutorial.
- You can figure out how to download and install Mozilla if you already don't have it on your system. Or, know how to get a geeky friend to do this for you (hint: food sometimes works).
