Step 3: CoreFTP Screen (After Logging in)
Upon a successful FTP login to your website account, the CoreFTP screen should open up and display your local files, your remote files, and the FTP conversation log which are the three main areas of interest.
The FTP Conversation Log displays the messages to and from the FTP server as your computer "talks" to the FTP server. You can monitor these messages to see if files are being uploaded or downloaded successfully and the status of other FTP commands. If you experience any problems, error messages will be displayed in this conversation log. This log is display above the Remote and Local Folders and Files sections.
On the right side of the screen is the Remote Folders and Files section which will display what folders and files are located on the remote system. The remote system is another name for the FTP server you are talking to. You can navigate up and down the folders in the remote system by double-clicking the folder names you wish to open. Note: For ChurchServe Free and Almost Free accounts, website files belong in the default or root login directory on the remote system. For other ChurchServe accounts, there is a /website folder that holds all website content. Other services may have a different website content folder so check with your website hosting provider before uploading any files.
Left side of the screen is the Local Folders and Files section which will display what folders and files are on your local computer system. By default, it will go to the last known location or C: drive if this is your first time opening CoreFTP. You may need to navigate your way to the place on your system where your website files are located before uploading.
To select the folder on your system where your website content files are located, use the Drives and Folders button. A dialog box will appear which will allow you to choose a location on your system.
Select the folder you wish to open, and click the OK button to continue. After that, the local section will refresh with the contents of the selected folder and the folder location field will be updated accordingly. Previous Step | Back to Contents | Next Step
