What are the FrontPage Extensions?

FrontPage Extensions are special programs written by Microsoft that come with FrontPage to enable advance/interactive functionality on your web site. For example, FrontPage extensions enable the page counter, search form, guestbook, discussion groups, and any submission forms -- all of which would not work at all without the extensions on the server. However, these functions would normally require complex CGI scripts to supply the same type of functionality. This system allows the average computer user to add dynamic features to their web site without requiring programming.
