Tips and Tricks

Don't go crazy -- read this first.
Never use FTP to transfer files from your FrontPage web to your web
site. FrontPage has special markings within the HTML files that are converted to HTML and
scripts at publishing time.
Stay away from the Java buttons or at least provide alternative
navigation -- old browsers may not be able to load the Java programs. Netscape 2.0 has
been know to crash when opening sites with the Hover java buttons -- so be careful.
Be careful when using the Editor outside of the FrontPage Explorer
environment.
Test your web sites with several different browsers and different
versions of those browsers -- some features do not work well with older or non-Microsoft
browsers.
Several webbots and functions will not work until the pages are
published to the FrontPage web site.
Don't fight the system -- FrontPage likes using Default.htm
as the "index" or "homepage". We have our system setup to respond to
"Default.htm", "Default.asp", "index.html",
"index.asp" or "index.htm" as the homepage of your web site, but
FrontPage likes to rename the homepage to Default.htm anyway. So, just
design you site with this in mind.
