Indirect International Ministry Upgrade

An international ministry main have an indirect upgrade to the Almost Free Website by applying for the Free Website service and then requesting an Almost Free Website by email: support@churchserve.com. Wait for your Free Website account to be approved before requesting the upgrade. In the email please provide the following information:
  • Existing Free Website Username
  • Existing Free Website URL (your web address)
  • Choice of subdomain or domain* address and specify that address
* ChurchServe cannot pay for the domain registration fee. Please make arrangements to register the domain name with a domain registrar.

Direct International Ministry Upgrade

Direct upgrade occurs when a person donates on behalf of a ministry or organization requesting the upgrade. This allows the person donating to specify what service the benefitting ministry will recieve. A donor may communicate directly with the target ministry or use a list provided by ChurchServe to select a ministry in need of an upgrade.

Getting on the List

Usually, going the direct upgrade path is quickest -- especially if the ministry chooses to use the Subdomain service offered by ChurchServe. However, if time is not an issue, a ministry can opt register with ChurchServe to be put on the Direct Upgrade waiting list.

Frequently Asked Questions about Indirect Upgrades

Who pays for the service?

Indirect Upgrades are serviced immediately to assist the international ministry's immediate need. ChurchServe maintains an account or list of funds marked for this project to help pay for the services. Depending on the domain and supply of funds will determine who actually pays for the service. In either case, the ministry that requests the service does NOT pay for the service.

How long will it take to get the service upgraded?

Like the previous question, Indirect Upgrades are done upon submission and require about 1 to 3 business days to process. Since Domain Registrations require third party involvement, upgrades using a domain name may take longer -- typically 4 or 5 days.

Are Domain Registration fees included?

No. Initially, we will be unable to directly process the domain registrations due lack of funds in the Indirect Upgrade Fund. As this program gains more funds from donations, we may revise this. At this point, ministries wanting to use a domain name should register and pay a third party (Domain Registrar) before or soon after requesting the upgrade.

Are FrontPage Extensions Supported?

No. Indirect Upgrades are upgrades directly to the Almost Free Website. Any and all features of the Almost Free Website is available to indirect upgraded ministries. Currently, the Almost Free Website does not include the special extensions HOWEVER you can still use Microsoft FrontPage to create and manage your website without components or pages needing the special extensions.

How are pages updated?

Like the Free Website service, we provide FTP access to your website. All updates are done via FTP.

How can someone donate to the fund?

We are accepting donations to two funds: International Indirect Upgrade Fund and the Free Website Fund. Any donation is welcome in any amount. We will be posting a statement of our funds on our website. For more details on donating, see our Donation Page.
